Our beloved crows are one of the top performing security systems for the safety of the flock. Crows give a security report each morning. The very young roosters are oblivious to the value of this alert. Older roosters take the news seriously passing it on to the flock.
Crows have their own nursery established by our neighbors property line. The crow nursery has grown over the years. The only predator in this area is the neighbor's hunting dog. She has killed my birds. The neighbors do their utmost to keep their dog a hunting asset thus avoiding chickens. The dog is usually at home.
One tip for attracting crows in an area that already has the crows - keep a dirty compost pile. A dirty fenced, compost area will have meat on top. My crows love leftover meat scraps. It may have contributed to the ever increasing crow population here at Dancing Roosters.
